RURAL ENERGY – THE POTENTIAL OF EUROPE’S NEW RURAL ENERGY SOLUTIONS
Apr 20th, 2011 by wiebke
RURENER was part of the European Sustainable Energy Week! Together with other organisers such as the FREE initiative (Future of Rural Energy in Europe) or the Regional Office of Silesia we organised a discussion on the interface between ENERGY and RURAL.
Over 70 stakeholders attended and joined the lively debate with representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament, upcoming Polish EU Presidency and Committee of the Regions. Thank your for your interest and contributions.
We learned more about the current status of rural energy policies and the energy challenges that rural areas are facing. Furthermore, the role of rural areas in promoting sustainable energy and climate change mitigation was addressed. As sustainable energy issues are far too important and complex to be addressed in the time span of just a week, we invite you to continue the rural energy dialogue and let us know:
- What is your organisation doing on a EU and/or national level to better integrate rural communities and rural energy solutions in relevant policies and programmes?
- What are your best examples of rural energy projects and best practices?
Together we can ensure that rural areas and the rural energy potential are not forgotten. We look forward to your feedback and remain at your disposal for further information.
