From 10th to 12th of June 2025

The European Sustainable Energy Week is the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It is organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the Directorate-General for Energy. Different presentations will be made by several stakeholders, it is a great opportunity to share rural territories’ challenges and provide visibility to interesting initiatives.
For this reason, RURENER worked together with 6 other organizations to nurture the 2025 edition of EUSEW “Powering a fair and competitive green transition”.  Salomé (RURENER) was one of the panellist of the session entitled “Equitable and Sustainable rural development: the role of the Clean Industrial Deal“. Her presentation focused on the Rural Transition LABS project, and more specifically the pilot project in Est Creuse aiming at  organizing a local sustainable economic value chain to promote locally farming hedges. The session gathered over 100 participants, both in-person and online, and led to a stimulating discussion with the audience.

We really appreciated that the EU Commission gave us this session to focus on rural development. Our only regret? The session was only accessible in English, preventing many rural actors from taking part and/or engaging in the discussion. Rural voices count, and we also need to provide the conditions so that they can be heard, so that they can engage in EU debates and decision-making.
