What is the project about?

Massif Central Towards 2030 builds on previous projects conducted by RURENER to offer to 10-12 rural communities of the French Central Mountain range (Massif Central), a tailored support for the driving and implementation of territorial transitions. This tailored support includes:

          – The conduct of sensitive analyses, using the Fabrique des Transitions’ methodology relying on bilateral interviews on the socio-political levers and barriers for the implementation of territorial transitions;

          – The organization of peer-to-peer exchanges through workshops and field visits across Europe;

          – The conduct of capacity-building sessions to integrate sustainability as a strategic component of local action plans (using The Natural Step approach also called Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development in France);

          – The shaping of pilots projects to demonstrate the communities’ ability to be drivers of systemic change

RURENER will build on this experience to expand this approach to its member communities in other European countries (as it is the case through the RURAL TRANSITION LABS’ project). Finally, the project will experiment an online monitoring tool including qualitative (stories) and quantitative  (online databases) indicators to better assess the local impact of transitions’ projects, in particular on the change in mentalities and perceptions of the transition’s dynamic at local level.
