In 2011, Maceo and RURENER organized a field study tour in Bolzano, Italy around three axes:

1. Territorial policy
2. Renewable energy production
3. Sustainable buildings and urbanism

This part of Italy was chosen because first, Alto-Adige is a European showcase of political involvement and production in sustainable construction and energy performance, and secondly, for its climatic and geological specificities similar to those of the Massif Central (a mountainous and continental climate which determines a typology of buildings adapted to large temperature differences).
